For 20-year-old Grace Foley from Killarney, the chance to be on the set of her favourite TV show and feature as an extra, if only for a few seconds, was an experience that she’ll never forget.
For those eagle-eyed viewers out of the hit show, ‘The Young Offenders’, you may have caught a glimpse of Grace in the latest episode where she starred as a ring girl in a boxing match scene.
While it may have only been a few seconds on screen, it was a full three days on set for mega fan Grace in August of last year and to say that she enjoyed it would be an understatement.
Speaking to The Kerryman, Grace said that the cast and crew of the show could not have been nicer.
“There was an open call for casting for the show for ages so I said that I might as well send in an audition tape. I didn’t hear back for a while and then all of a sudden, I got a call and they asked would I be available on such and such a day so I just went for it,” said Grace.
“The first day on set was the fitting and then the next two days were 7am to 7pm shoots. It was such good craic though, the shooting, I was just so nervous at the start but everyone there, the cast and the crew, they were honest to god, the friendliest and most down-to-earth people that you would ever meet. They were so welcoming,” Grace continued.
This positive experience on set was the icing on the cake for Grace who said that the show is her all-time favourite show on TV.
“I love the programme. I would have said beforehand that it was one of my favourite programmes anyway and then to go up there and have such a positive experience, it was brilliant, even if I was a little bit star struck seeing the actors and what not,” she laughed.
