Ark – Storytelling Through Songwriting

29th April @ 9:30 pm - 1st May @ 10:00 pm


An exclusive event on Valentia Island. Intimate performances, songwriting and storytelling workshops. Brian Kennedy,Emma Langford, Sean O’Laoghaire and Emma Edel.

Friday 29th April – Emma Edel Live from 21:30pm

An acoustic performance by an accomplished local singer-songwriter.

Saturday 30th April

Songwriting Workshops from 10:00 – 13:30.

Participation limited to 25 per workshop.

Songwriting Workshop with Emma Langford

This workshop will explore sharing local stories through song. Through a lens of Langford’s own current work, we will look at the process of distilling local lore into song, creating work that captures the essence of Irish history and folklore, and how we can sculpt and deliver those stories through our own unique voice and sound. This workshop will be engaging for songwriters of all levels. Participants are welcome to bring works-in-progress that they would like to develop.

Storytelling Workshop with Sean O’Laoghaire

With over 30 years experience, working in the fields of creating for, facilitating and igniting the imaginations of a wide demographic, Seán has developed an effective methodology, helping people in the “Designing of Narrative for Sharing”. This methodology not only helps the individual in creating a narrative, using the natural cycles of nature, the principles of permaculture and design thinking, but can lead to a very resounding base narrative to be shared, in a dynamic and fun manner. After the workshop, you will have a strong template for designing and creating narratives to share comfortably with any audience, in whatever medium and environment you work in

Songwriting Masterclass with Brian Kennedy 15:00 – 16:00

A unique opportunity to learn from a true master of songwriting interpretation musicianship and performance. This workshop is limited to 50 participants. Attendees will benefit from Brian Kennedy’s 30 plus years of experience as an all encompassing artist and gain from his insights into the world of singing, writing songs and novels and even channeling a journey with cancer with his last release ‘Recovery.’

Gala Dinner and Evening Performance with Brian Kennedy 20:30

Another unique opportunity to relax and dine in the charmingly quaint Royal Valentia Hotel. Enjoy a delicious 3 course meal followed by an intimate, exclusive performance by Brian Kennedy.

The Emma Langford Trio 20:00

The final event of the weekend – Emma will be joined by Ray Yrure and Alec Brown, both of whom have accompanied Emma on stage in Ireland and abroad since 2016, and featured on her albums Quiet Giant and Sowing Acorns.
